My thoughts:  It would take a Biblical scholar to truly evaluate the content of a version of the Bible verse by verse and also to evaluate the study notes included with said version. I do not purport to have such qualifications.

Study Bibles have basically two portions.... 1) The Biblical text or "The Bible," and 2) the study aids including cross referenced Bible verses, essays, commentary on specific subjects or verses, and maps. The most important of the two is the Biblical text or holy scriptures. The copy of the CSB Counsel Bible I am reviewing is hard cover, and it is a hefty book basically because it is a Bible which is a big volume; but also because this edition also has a lot of articles. Articles you would normally read via other print options. Secret word: holiness

I do not see the CSB Life Counsel Bible as a true "study Bible." It is a reliable Bible with impactful articles written by men and women of today's world who address many needed subjects on living in today's world and living Biblically. It needs to be clearly understood that these articles are not considered edits or divinely inspired as the Bible is the only God inspired Word we have to draw from.  For me the articles disrupt the flow of Scripture reading - to some extent. But it is doable.  The articles included present a variety of topics that are great for reading and aid in handling issues confronting each of us. The articles are positioned in the vicinity of appropriate Scriptures.

The print is pretty nice size for my tired eyes and yet doesn't quite meet the "large print" level that some would need. The text is quite readable, though some might wish for larger typeset. The references (cross references and word explanations, etc.) are very small type.

While I prefer the King James Version, I understand today's readers often prefer a version such as the Christian Standard Version of the Bible for its readability. Scholars conclude that the CSB stays true to the original. I leave that interpretation and evaluation to scholars.
