Folks, parents need some real guidance in the matter of selecting a pet for their child. They need to address issues such as
- "What pet will not HARM my child?"
- "What pet will MY CHILD not HARM?"
- "What pet can my child learn to actually care for?"
- "What pet will render love toward my child?"
- "What are traits of this specific animal?"
Little Kids First Big Book of Pets has a fantastic array of photographs that capture anyone's attention whether a young child or an older person. And the instruction within these 100plus pages is first rate and so very valuable.
Early in the book, the "this is NOT a pet type animal" is beautifully presented, and the reasons why that specific animal is not suitable helps the child to understand the purpose of wild critters and why they should remain free in the wild. Love this part! And then all types of information such as how and where you can find a pet for yourself (or your child), how to care for the pet, doctors for pets, etc. Lots of good information.
The book covers the plethora of pets and you can learn about the various types of pets: Dogs, Cats, and a mixture of the assorted types of pets (fish, crabs, hamsters, birds). Such good information. In the major categories the information about different breeds of specific animal types - dog breeds, cat breeds, etc. is very helpful and will lead in your decision making.
Sometimes the easiest choice of a pet in a small home or for other good reasons, is a fish. |
So, I truly believe parents need this book. Older kids need this book. Younger children will love the book and the pictures. I found this book to be one I can highly recommend.
