Let's face it. Judy Moody and all of her adventures or escapades came along after my own children were grown. Did any of my "grands" read the book? I really don't know. I do know that the opinion is mixed on liking and not liking Judy Moody. She is, after all, a bit of a conundrum - quirky, moody. testy, sassy, and more. But she is the embodiment of that which makes many kids "tick" whether it is good or bad.

Often it is the kid that exhibits Judy's traits that learns how to manage themselves and have the sheer guts to go forth and make a success out of themselves utilizing their individual talents. The key word here is manage.  Parents can guide the reading and interpretation of read materials so that the child grows and learns to manage their abilities.

That means she sometimes blurts out things that make one cringe and she sometimes gets ramped up and sometimes gets her mood ramped down. She is energetic and full of creative juices and instinct.

Book #14 Judy Moody and the Right Royal Tea Party has this capricious 8 year old ramped up because she grasps onto the information that one of her ancestors was British and rescued someone from the Tower of London. She jumps from that information to the idea of having royal blood flowing through her veins and onto the regal perch of Queen. This is the mood of her day and the goal is to make everything royal purple.

Her purple queenly fascination follows her into her third grade classroom and the family tree project. The story is cute. Judy Moody is a lively little girl who gets an idea and "runs with it" where it totally encompasss her life.
