My thoughts: Little girls and their daddies! Priceless! In this delectably delicious little pink book, we see on page after page the long, thin daddy legs and feet as he speaks to his girls about growing up.
Girls just like boys envision various activities for when they are grown up. Traditionally, girls are mommies and keepers-of-the-home. But they can be so much more. Now I am much a traditionalist and believe there is no finer calling for a girl than to grow up as a nurturer - mommy and keeper-of-the-home. But I also am a firm believer that girls should grow up prepared to face the world and earn a living in a field outside of the home. And this should be in a field in which they find enjoyment and have a talent.

My thoughts: Sweet thoughts and mental images of adventurous activities are the stuff and material of happy dreams and visions for youngsters. Reading Rocket-Bye to a boy (or girl) at bedtime (or anytime) fosters the imagination of far off galaxies, stars, planets, and moons.

Roman for the delight of children everywhere, and illustrated in the soft, adventurous style of Mateya Arkova, Rockey-Bye rhyme and pictures will capture the attention of boys and girls everywhere. A cute space ship ride for two youngsters as they romp hither and yonder exploring the vastness of the universe.

ReplyDeleteI liked the video because it shows that people are doing this and are finding success. I have a couple of my own children's books I'd like to self-publish soon.
ReplyDeleteI have two daughters and we try to inspire them to do their best by catering to their strengths. My older daughter loves art and we have tried to provide her with good books and materials to help her pursue it. My 3-year-old loves Legos and I love that there are more feminine versions of toys that were only "for boys" when I was young.
ReplyDeleteI have three granddaughters that have different interests and strengths. When they visit I have books they can read and activities to complete. They are always encouraged to be who you are!

What an insightful way to speak to a young girl. In today's world of exaggerated and unrealistic "beauty," it is certainly good to focus on interests and activities.

DeleteI do encourage girls to reach for the stars, I'm a RN that works with kids daily and I always make sure to help boost their self confidence and talk to them about what they want to be when they grow up and help to encourage them to set that goal.
ReplyDeleteI love encouraging my daughter to do all sorts of things! My father is a real stickler for boys doing boy things and girls doing girl things, and I always make sure to follow behind and let them both know they can do whatever would make them happy! no matter what anyone thinks
ReplyDeleteI believe that girls should always be encouraged to do whatever comes naturally to them. My daughter was a free spirit and never wanted to do what the crowd did or what other girls did, and I did not stand in her way, well, most of the time anyway. LOL

ReplyDeleteI tell my oldest that she is the only person that can set limits on what she wants to do or be. Her drive and her desire play the biggest roles in her own future, not whether she is a boy or a girl. I tell my youngest that there are no boys toys or girls toys, just toys and that she can play whatever she wants! Same thing with clothes--you will find clothes from the boys' and girls' sections in their closets.

ReplyDeleteI have two daughters, I always tell them they can be whatever they want(within reason of course ;) ). I encourage them to think for themselves & make their own decisions.
