Introduction to Cultures: If You Were Me and Lived In Italy [Review & Giveaway 1 Grand prize = set of books, + 5 will win a copy of ITALY]

The last half of the school year is well underway and students may be studying various peoples, lands, continents, and cultures. It always helps for them to have previously been introduced to it even at a pretty young age. Carole P. Roman is a former teacher and knows how to introduce cultures to students. Let your imagination travel to far away lands and see just what it might be like if you lived in......

ITALY

Ms. Roman's book on ITALY is by far my most favorite of her culture books. She captures the essence of Italy in the illustrations consisting of photographic images as well as the usual drawings.

Did you know that Italy is in the shape of a boot? It is surrounded on three sides by water and is the home of one of history's largest conquering country - Rome.

Learn of popular names for boys and girls as well as what you would call your parents.

Ms. Roman touches on the rich history of Italy and this is definitely an asset to the book. (Tucked away in the corners along with page numbers is a tiny picture of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.)

The Mediterranean area - especially Italy, is well know for its food. A brief look at what the grandmother might serve you to eat in Italy is good.

At the end of the book there is are several pages of words with definitions that are good to know about Italy.

To date, Carole P. Roman has written and printed about 15 of the If You Were Me and Lived in…… books. Chat With Vera has reviewed most of these. They are especially nice to have on hand in the home school library or school classroom library.

    Sounds like a fun read! My kids have loved learning about ancient Rome, and I'm sure they'd like learning about modern Italy, too!

    I know that Sicily is a part of Italy and that Venice has rivers with river boats running through it!

    I went to Italy with my 9th grade Latin club. I'd love to return to enjoy the food and wine I didn't/couldn't enjoy back then.

    My husband and I have traveled to Egypt, England, Wales, Scotland, Jamaica, Aruba, and Mexico. Italy is on our agenda as one of our next 2 trips.

    I've never been to Italy though I have traveled pretty extensively in Asia, Europe, and Africa. but I would love to go someday! Seeing some of the places Paul traveled in the Bible is something I've always wanted to do.

    I would love to get in contact with this author about reviewing some of her books while we are studying Children Around the World in our homeschool. It seems like such a natural fit. If you have a moment, would you mind emailing me how I could get in contact with her or her publisher - whichever deals with sending out review copies?     I've never traveled to Italy, but would love to go someday. From what I've seen it's a gorgeous place with lots of culture. Hopefully someday. :)

    I know the capital of Italy is Rome. If I ever had the opportunity to visit, I would love to go there to discover and check out the sites.

    I've never traveled through Europe at all - just layovers at a few of the larger airports. I've been to Venezuela, had a half-day stop in Singapore a couple of times, and lived in India for a few months at a time for several years in a row. Italy is on my bucket list. :)

    I went to Venice in high school and it was easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. I would love to go back there and especially to go to Rome as well.
