Cold Shot (Chesapeake Valor #1) by Dani Pettrey from Bethany House Publishing

About the book: In college, Griffin McCray and his four best friends had their lives planned out. Griffin and Luke Gallagher would join the Baltimore PD. Declan Gray would head to the FBI and Parker Mitchell would go on to graduate school as a crime scene analyst. But then Luke vanished before graduation and their world--and friendships--crumbled.

After ending his career as a SWAT-team sniper, Griffin McCray is working as a park ranger when skeletal remains are unearthed. To Griffin’s shock, the FBI agent put on the case is Declan Gray, a friend he lost touch with after a tragic loss. With charming anthropologist Finley Scott’s help, can Griffin confront his past—and escape this web of murder alive?

My thoughts: I thoroughly enjoyed Dani Pettrey's writing skills and the way she developed the characters in Cold Shot through conversation, description, and actions. The story begins with a rush of excitement and proceeds in an intriguing assortment of details and characters that kept this reader enthralled.

A hard to put down book that kept me wondering just who the villain was and if the quartet's missing friend was going to emerge in the story.

I look forward to reading Chesapeake Valor #2 by Ms. Pettrey as Cold Shot has left me hankering for more of these folks lives and adventures.

  2. I haven't been reading much suspense lately and find myself hankering for some good Christian suspense. This sounds great! Thanks for sharing it at Booknificent Thursday this week!
