On Christmas Eve, one of Ben’s secrets accidentally comes to light, forcing him to confront the darkness of his past and to rediscover the faith he once knew.
My thoughts: I hesitated to agree to read and review this book for a variety of reasons. However, since it is a short read (150+ page novella) and themed around Christmas (I do enjoy those sweet Christmas-novellas), I said I'd do it. When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised at the lovely cover. Professional! Artistic! Warm and cozy. The cover totally represents this warm-cozy read.
When I began reading I was immediately struck with the author's beautiful way with words spinning her story in a well-worded, relaxed yet flowing language, and with beautiful imagery. Hmmm.... I thought. I'm in for a treat! And I have not been disappointed.
As the synopsis indicates, this takes place in a small English village when dramatically a stranger collapses at the front door of an older couple's cottage. They (Biblically) take in the stranger amongst them and warm, shelter, tend, feed, clothe, and minister to him in a loving yet unobtrusive way.
Traci Borum's story rivals, in my opinion, Jan Karon's tales. There is a village full of loveable characters for the reader to get to know.
I can heartily recommend that this book to Chat With Vera's readers encouraging them to find a copy and read it over the holidays. It is a sweet, joyful, well-written story. I look forward to more from Traci Borum.

Traci Borum has been a Creative Writing teacher at a community college for the past ten years. She's a native Texan and an Anglophile at heart. She owns two "British" dogs—a Corgi and a Sheltie—and she’s completely addicted to Masterpiece Theater (must be those dreamy British accents!). More than anything, she treasures the friendships in her life and adores her supportive family. Traci’s Blog: http://writerscorner-traci.blogspot.com/
