Silent Night (A VeggieTales Musical Board Book) [Review & Giveaway]

About the book: The Veggies are putting on a Christmas play based on the carol 'Silent Night' in this new musical board book.

Bob, Larry, and all the Veggie friends put on their costumes for a Christmas play about Jesus' birth told through the verses of 'Silent Night.' Laura Carrot lovingly presides over the scene as Mary while she watches the baby sleep. Out in the fields, the shepherds quake at the sight of the angels who appear. The entire cast gathers around the manger to celebrate, 'Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.'

The lyrics of this traditional carol were written in 1816 by a young priest named Joseph Mohr. His friend and musician, Franz Gruber, added the melody in 1818, and on that Christmas Eve, a song was born that captivated the hearts of people throughout the world.

Push the sound button to hear Larry sing the refrain of the song. This fun, yet reverent, Nativity book is a great way to keep toddlers talking -- and singing -- about the true meaning of Christmas. Ages 2-5.
My thoughts: Ideals and Candy Cane Press have given us another delightful children’s board book with the music push-the-button. Children just simply love these little books and the beloved Christmas Carol “Silent Night” makes it even more special.

The Veggie Tales characters are in a Christmas Nativity play and the lyrics of “Silent Night” are the story lines. Push the button and simply sing along. It will help a young child learn the turn and lyrics of this beloved Christmas Carol. Sized just right for little hands to hold and carry about the house throughout the day. Parents may eventually tire of hearing the tune but they can calmly bear it because they know this is a building block for a Child’s relationship with the Christ of the nativity. A plus is that you can replace the batteries when needed.

    Yesterday! Our crazy ice cream truck plays Christmas Carols all the time. He did it all summer.

    I would say The Berenstain Bears' Sleepy Time Book. I have always liked the Berenstain Bears.

    I love the push-the-button books. Children can then play the music whenever they want to hear it. This looks like a wonderful Christmas present!

    I also like the VeggieTales "I Thank God for This Day!" book on the Ideals website. The idea of finding joy in everyday things and expressing gratitude for them is great.

    I like that they are so easy for my daughter to use. She can hear her favorite song as many times as she wants without getting frustrated by it being hard to operate.

    I LOVE push button books. I'm already a big fan of kids' books, but push button music or sounds make them even MORE fun and help hold the kids' attention and make them love books younger and more!

    I also love their GOD MADE YOU SPECIAL sound book w/ Veggie Tales. Sound books are so much fun and Veggie Tales are so cute and SO FUNNY! I love how the book makes the child feel special and personalizes w mirror at the end, too.

    Remembering my mom and aunt singing Silent Night, beautifully to us, as kids, at Christmas time. They would sing it in harmony, and I remember I thought they sounded almost like angels.

    I think the idea is great for push button books. The kids love to push buttons on their electronic toys. This is a way for them to do that, but take a break from the electronics :)

    I think push button books may be a novelty to help hold the attention of children who might otherwise not be attracted by regular books.

    The Story of Thomas Jefferson looks good! I love that they have a vast selection of biographies for children. I think it's so important for kids to develop a love and respect of history. I definitely think these will make great Christmas gifts this year!

    I like the Story of Christmas Activity book. It contains stickers which little ones love to use and it focuses on the true meaning of Christmas.

    I love these type of books for little kids! Thye are so easy for them to use and enjoy independantly. (My older kids still like them too - it just isn't cool any longer to be seen playing with them. ;) )
