Gluten Free baking products from "Our House" division of House of Autry [Review & Giveaway]


In our house, we don’t have anyone that has to watch the gluten in their diet. However, my daughter and her daughter do. So when I was given the opportunity to review the “Our House” brand of gluten free products, I was delighted. I reviewed another brand of gluten free products sometime back, and while they worked fine, they were not especially appealing to me. I received the “Our House” brownie mix, all purpose baking mix, and cookie mix.



I first prepared the brownies – well, who doesn’t love chocolate. I was simply amazed at how moist and delicious these were. I don’t think most folks would be able to tell the difference between these and “regular” brownies. You can take these to a potluck and be sure to see the plate picked clean.

“Our House” has also thoughtfully provided a little “tag” that you can clip from the side of the box that says “ Gluten Free” and place next to your dish at a potluck, party, or family dinner.

Next, I wanted to experiment with the all purpose baking mix. Since it is “everything pumpkin” season and since we have had an on-going love affair with pumpkin bread, that is what I thought I’d prepare. Well, there was a dearth of recipes online, so I conjured up (that’s an October seasonal term) my own. It didn’t turn out as expected, but I think I know how to fix it next time. Pictured here is my excursion into gluten free pumpkin bread cooking…

I’m saving the cookie mix and letting my daughter try that one. Maybe for when her girl comes to town for a visit. Won’t that be fun.

I saw these products at the local Food Lion grocery store and understand that Harris Teeter and Lowes Foods also carries them. If you can’t find them, they are available online at the Our House website http://ourhousegf.com

    I would love to try the Brownie Mix for sure and The All Purpose Baking Mix would be good to have to try different recipes and the pancake mix too.

    The All-purpose flour to bake anything with, the chocolate brownie mix & the All-purpose baking mix. I would make the brownies for my friend who has to have a gluten free diet, something sweet that she can eat :-)

    Oh I have not heard of these before. I was diagnosed almost 9 years ago now with Celiac! I would LOVE to try their All Purpose Flour, Cornbread Mix, and their Pancake and Waffle Mix!

    I'd love to try the all purpose flour, the baking mix and the brownie mix, even though they all sound really good. My daughter has to eat gluten free which is more expensive than normal baking products.
