Christmas is all about the coming of Christ as a babe in the manger, but the ultimate message of Christmas is one of Salvation. Christ came to bring Salvation to mankind. So this lovely book opens with a message of God's gift of His Son as our savior – “When the Times Comes – God with You, Wherever You Are.”
Other chapters will bring comfort, encouragement, and beauty into the life of the reader. I can see this lovely book used as a devotional for some of the chaotic December days when a word fitly spoken would bring peace. Each chapter has Scripture and the words of hymns that fit the theme of that chapter. Love it!
What a beautiful gift to share with someone. But don’t wait until Christmas Day to give it, go ahead and start the giving early because this is a treasure. Here are some of the lovely lines....
"I am with you. I haven't left you. I'm here, and I'm not going anywhere.
The Lord masterfully orchestrates history in order to fulfill His word to His people.
Christmas is gloriously undeniable evidence that, no matter how long the delay, God is on His throne and intimately involved in the circumstances of your life.
Just because the Father appears to be silent doesn’t mean He has forsaken you – and He certainly isn’t sitting still, doing nothing.
Jesus is worthy of your focus, worship, and praise at Christmas and always."
About the book: Reigning king, suffering servant, precious Savior - celebrate Jesus' birth from the perspectives of those who knew him! Accompanied by inspiring Scripture and beautiful color photos, Charles Stanley's reflections invite you to see the nativity through the eyes of Mary, Joseph, the innkeeper, Bethlehem townspeople, the wise men, and the prophet Isaiah. Makes a meaningful gift!

I absolutely love Christmas and am wishing for a very happy and HEALTHY family this year. Has been several bad years of health for some members of the family and it would be such a happy blessing.
ReplyDeleteFor me, the very best blessing of all is Jesus, and the pure joy of knowing that He left the splendor of heaven to be born as a lowly baby in a relatively poor family, just to suffer and die to bring even me into His kingdom by grace, through faith....
ReplyDeleteChristmas is a very special holiday for my family, we see special blessings when the little ones play with their kid's nativity set and place the Christ child in the manger, and know He is our Lord.
ReplyDeleteMy girlfriend and I became engaged on Christmas 50 years ago. In June we will celebrate 50 years of marriage. We have enjoyed many wonderful Christmases together as a couple, then with children of our own, and now with our grandchildren.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! So wonderful to hear of marriages that last in this world where they seldom do anymore!
DeleteI think the best but also bittersweet Christmas blessing was last year - my husband passed on 12-13, his funeral was 12-19 so just days before Christmas and with three young children it was VERY hard. I'm so thankful to those who showed up with gift cards to help with gifts and also food - hubby was the one who cooked our holidays meals and when friends found that out they brought us our Christmas meal.
ReplyDeleteJust being with my husband & daughters is a blessing.
ReplyDeleteAt Christmas I enjoy teaching my children about Christ and what Christmas is all about.
ReplyDeleteMy blessing at Christmas is that my daughter overcame breast cancer.
ReplyDeleteI have been blessed with spending 47 Christmases with my soulmate. The first we had just begun dating and by the next Christmas we were married. Lord willing, we will celebrate our 47th anniversary on Dec. 14 and our 48th Christmas together this year. We have a daughter and granddaughter to complete our joy!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I wish you many more!
DeleteBlessed to have my family!
ReplyDeleteMy extended family gathering always started with the birth story from the gospel Luke. It's a dear memory!

I'm not quite in Christmas mode yet, but will file this one away for when I'm ready to think about it once Thanksgiving is over! Thanks for sharing this at Booknificent Thursday!

I am blessed so much by the memory of my grandpa reading Luke 2 from his big, worn Bible, while we all chimed in with the parts we knew.
ReplyDeleteWe have the simplest yet most profound blessings at Christmas. All of our family together in harmony. During the year that can be easy to take for granted. When we pause during the holidays to count our blessings, I really see how rare a happy, loving, cohesive family can be.
ReplyDeleteMy Mother had leukemia and was close to leaving us, the doctors said less than a week. I prayed she would be able to attend Christmas with our family which was five days away. I wanted one more Christmas with my precious mother. She was feeling very good that Christmas day, we had a great Christmas get together with lots of fond memories and pictures. She passed away three days later. I'm so thankful for the blessing of our last Christmas.
ReplyDeleteOur first son was born 2 days before Christmas, so he was our most joyous Christmas blessing that year

ReplyDeleteMy first child was born Christmas morning and my 4th was born on Dec. 15. Busy time of the year.
