While written for an intended audience of 8 to 12 year olds, those older than 12 will certainly enjoy it for its information and recipes. Beautifully illustrated with photographs and drawings, it makes for a visually appealing and instructive book. The recipes use basics such as carrots, green beans, potatoes, tomatoes, herbs, and lettuce.
An illustrated listing of cooking ingredients, and kitchen tools is wonderfully informative and valuable. The recipes entice with their wonderful ingredients and finished product photographs. I can hardly wait to pass this book along to my daughter’s four young girls. I predict it will be well-worn and well-loved.

My mother was a wonderful and skilled gardener. She was well-known for her green thumb!

We have planted all sorts of things. Our biggest struggle currently is with our blueberry bushes. They are not happy with our soil.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I did not inherit my mom's green gardening thumb, but I do alright with a bit of container gardening. I have great plans for learning through Niki Jabbour's Groundbreaking Food Gardens book I received this month-hoping it changes the color of my thumb!

ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to "say something nice!" I went and left a friend a nice comment on Facebook. Funny thought... I hope she smiles when she reads it as much as I did by saying it. Amazing how that works!

ReplyDeleteI have gardened throughout my life.
ReplyDeleteI grew up on a farm with a huge garden. When my husband and I first married, we went out to my parent's farm and were able to plant our own garden. Over the years, we have had very small gardens. We are empty nesters now, but my husband puts out 12 tomato plants and donates the produce to the local food pantry. I just like to look at the garden and pull a few weeds :)
ReplyDeleteYes we have a garden every year. My kids and I work together and plant in the early spring. We usually have tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, spinach, strawberries, mint and much more. We did not do corn this year because we never harvest them so we decided to do something different.
ReplyDeleteI plant a garden every year. We enjoy tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries.
ReplyDeleteI have never planted a garden but hubby has every year and my granddaughter helps him. Then when ripe she picks the cherry tomatoes and eats them like candy
ReplyDeleteI love my hubby and he is the best man in the world
ReplyDeleteI feel truly blessed to have a happy healthy husband, daughter, and three wonderful grandchildren. My grandchildren love to help their granddad and me garden - it feels good to pass that knowledge on.
ReplyDeleteWe do not currently have a garden but I sure wish we did. We had one a couple of years when our 4 children were small. I remember the first year we planted, my husband & I were both clueless. We didn't know if the "packs" of tomatoes were ONE plant or SIX plants. So we bought 6, because we wanted 6 tomato plants. We had 36. :)

We planted a garden a few years back…lots of tomatoes, peppers and even acorn squash (which was delicious!). We should think about planting a garden here at our new home, too!
ReplyDeleteI left a comment on their FB page! https://www.facebook.com/ScarlettaPress/posts/10152225777431185
ReplyDeleteI love my hubby & teen daughter & tween son…they are all so awesome! And looking forward to school being over in a couple of weeks so I can spend more time with them!
