The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare is an absolutely beautiful book illustrated in delightful watercolors by Anita Jeram. The author, Sam McBratney, also wrote the best-selling classic Guess How Much I Love You. Teamed together, Jeram and McBratney have collaborated to bring us four short stories about Little Nutbrown Hare as he explores the world around him.
He is cautioned by his father, Big Nutbrown Hare, of the dangers; yet he is given some room to explore and make decisions. Little Nutbrown Hare discovers that danger lurks in cloudy mountain and in the big dark hole. He also discovers that his dad, Big Nutbrown Hare, is there for him and that home is his most favorite place to be.
This is a delightful book to be added to the home book shelf because it will be a reader's choice and a kid's choice for many days to come. How often do parents, teachers, and librarians say "thank you" to an author or an illustrator for bringing delight into the homes and lives of children and parents when they pick up a lovely book such as The Adventures of Little Nutbrown Hare? But today, we say, "Thank you" to each an every author of beautiful children's books.

ReplyDeleteWe had a creek behind our house that I would explore as a child. I would look for wildflowers, toads, and blackberries. My parents had no idea that I was there as they thought that I was playing with neighborhood kids but really I was not friends with any of them. It taught me to appreciate nature. Now there are twice yearly creek cleanups and the drainage ditches and pathways that used to lead down to the creek have been removed because the local cities do not want people in the creek. 40 years ago there was never any trash in the creek, but now there is.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember any adventures I had as a child, I lived a quiet, boring life, lol.

I had so many adventures and mishaps as a child. I think a biggie was my tree climbing. My parents repeatedly told me not to and I didn't listen. I can't say how many injuries I received trying to get down out of the trees.

I remember my biggest adventure was riding my bike with my sister to the community pool. It was so hot I passed out from heat stroke. I learned not to ride m bike there if it was really hot.

my cousin and I had a little plastic butter bowl and we filled it with paper and set it on fire. The grownups were playing cards. When they came to check on us we slid the bowl under the porch to hide it. Needless to say the porch caught on fire and so did our bottoms so we learned not to play with fire.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't much of an adventure but I learned you couldn't put regular dish soap in the dishwasher. I did not know this.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to own Interrupting Chicken. My daughter loved it when we read it together.
ReplyDeleteI could go ride my bike, I just had to check in so my parents did not worry. One day I was gone too long and they worried. Being able to ride my bike around town by myself as a child, those were the days.
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted a Where's Waldo? book.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves "Guess How Much I Love You". I think I'm going to add this one to her library as well.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. :)
