"Baby Come Home" by Elizabeth Kail Arnita (Review & Giveaway)

Review: This children's picture book is an allegorical story of a little bird that wants to get out of his cage and scale over the garden wall to the big world outside.  The story is about the protection Sam (the human) offers the birds in the garden and especially "Baby."

This is a story of protection from the evils and dangers that lurk in the outside world.  We can easily see that the imagery is that of a child leaving the confines, rules, and protection of home.  But the bigger picture is that of the child of God straying from the protection of God or the shelter a Christian has in the fellowship of believers.

The story, though brought down to children's level, is a bit heavy for a child's comprehension; but I do  believe a "seed" can be planted via the reading of this story that a child can learn that he or she must not stray from his place of protection.  The lesson can also be learned that someone will care enough to come pick up the pieces of our brokenness and restore us.

  2. In Kenya they provide food and education to small children. In Panama they help teens that are too old to belong to an orphanage. The best part is 100% of your donation actually goes to their ministry not their admin costs.

  3. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on Baby Comes Home. As to the book's sales...all of the money goes to Welcome the Children. No money other than covering the printing costs is taken for other things. I really think this is a wonderful thing the author is doing.

    1. Thank you for your comments, Virginia. I noted the proceeds from the sale of the books goes to Welcome the Children and also included a link. Yes, it is commendable that only the cost of printing the books is taken prior to the funds going to Welcome the Children.

  11. I like that the story talks about unconditional love and rules. I have 2 kiddos that like to push rules, but it is important to me to show them my love is not conditional on their obedience even though obedience is important.

  12. They provide services to these kids to help develop and grow them mentally, physically, and spiritually. I think the Panama program is great to help keep kids off of the street. I also like that all that they receive goes to helping the kids.

  19. I watched the trailer and I learned that the book was inspired by a true story and that the author believes that rules offer the hand of protection and are not just about not having fun. I liked the trailer but missed some of the words on some of the slides because the Youtube toolbar was at the bottom. Sigh. kristiedonelson(at)gmail(dot)com Thank you.

  23. I'm very impressed that all staff are volunteers and board members cover the administrative costs of running the organization, so that all donations can go to the programs. I'm a non-profit auditor and have worked with many organizations, but have never seen that before!
