The lovable and adventurous donkey introduced in the best-selling "Clopper the Christmas Donkey" returns to continue the marvelous story surrounding Jesus' birth. After Joseph and Mary dedicate Jesus at the temple, Clopper "clip-clops" down the road to Bethlehem to bring the family home. The excitement continues when magi bringing wonderful gifts appear at Mary and Joseph's door to worship God's only Son.
My thoughts: Children love tales with cute, animated drawings of animals and Emily King has written just such a tale and it is illustrated by Ed Olson in bold, strong colors with the whimsical Clopper the star of the show.
In "The Night Travelers" children will learn how the means of transportation during the time of Jesus' birth was often a donkey such as Clopper. When Mary and Joseph needed to flee because Herod wanted to kill the babies born at that time in order to make certain that the King of Kings was not allowed to live, Mary rode a donkey as they fled to Egypt. They fled at night.
Children will learn how Joseph responded to the Angel of the Lord when told to leave and take Mary and the babe to Egypt. Children will see the hand of God protecting His only begotten Son.
This is the 2nd in a set of books about Clopper written for the entertainment and education of children.
